Lately...

I was accepted into the Nurse Practitioner/RNFA program at UAB today. I should start classes in January. Matt took me to Macaroni Grill today to celebrate. The tiramusi was HUGE and delicious!

Chloe spent the night with her grandparents last night. Apparently Jerry's wiggling and tossing and turning left Chloe awake for most of the night. So when she came home this morning she took herself a long nap. Thanks MawMaw and PawPaw!

Lately....

Our first blog.
Little has occured today. More rain has been the big news story. Due to the rain, another of Matt's little league football games has been canceled. Since there's no football tonight, Matt and I have time to run to the grocery store and pick up a few things for the week. I'm sure we'll have our usual "What do you want to eat tonight?" conversation and both give in and eat mexican food. Anyway, it should be a peaceful, quiet night of watching 90210 and Melrose Place.

Today has been nice for me since I was able to sleep until 9 am with Chloe. Today was my day off. I work three 12 hour shifts at the hospital so I have the luxury of running errands, cleaning, or just laying around the house 2 out of 5 days a week. Today, I chose to mostly lay around the house with periodic cleaning spells.

This past weekend was a lot more exciting for us than the beginning of this week. We went to Tuscaloosa early Saturday morning (left at 6:30 am!) for the Alabama/Tenneessee rivalry game. We lucked out (Thanks Brant's!) and got amazing tickets to the game. We spent the day tailgating at Meghan Martin's house in Tuscaloosa and ventured over to the stadium around 2 pm for the pregame excitement. You get chills everytime you step into Bryant-Denny stadium. Trust me-if you've never been there, you are definitely missing out on the excitement. The game was incredibly too close but it is definitley one for the history books.

My favorite quote of this week was one by Paul "Bear" Bryant (Ofcourse!). This past weekend's game was very similar to one coach Bryant coached against Tennessee in 1966 when Alabama was defending their undefeated season and hanging on to an 11-10 lead as Tennessee lined up for what was to be a last-second, game-winning field goal. The kick was wide, prompting someone to ask Bryant what would have happened if the kick had been good. He responded, "If he had kicked it straight, we'd have blocked it."

Fourty-three years later the premonition came true. Paul Bryant was looking down from heaven Saturday (still hating Tennessee) and nodding his head in satisfaction.
